AHOrA’s 10th Annual Charity Fundraising Lunch and Tennis Tournament
Join us on April 29, 2016 for AHOrA’s 10th Annual Charity Fundraising Lunch and Tennis Tournament, a celebration that supports AVANCE-Dallas. For the last 19 years AVANCE-Dallas has worked to build communities through an effective dual-generational education model that has proven to be highly effective in improving educational and financial outcome for underserved children and their families.
During AHOrA’s fundraising event, over 200 professional Hispanic women from the Dallas Fort-Worth area unite to support this great cause. Last year, thanks to the generous support from families and corporate sponsors from our community, we were able to help 62 families by raising more than $43,000.
Grupo AHOrA was founded in 2006; its membership includes over 540 first generation Hispanic professional women who live in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The name AHOrA is an acronym for Amigas Hispanas Organizadas para Ayudar, which means “Hispanic Friends Organized to Help.” The group’s common goal is to support the needy, through a variety of programs and financial support. AHOrA has an active Facebook Group with more than 470 members, who share information on local culture education, community support, philanthropic events and international news.
Since 2007, AHOrA has organized Día de las Madres, an annual social event and fundraiser benefitting organizations that support low-income mothers in the Dallas area. For the past six years, Grupo AHOrA has donated 100% of the proceeds of its fundraiser to Avance-Dallas. A sold-out event in 2015 raised $43,000; since 2009, our efforts have raised a total of $148,300 for Avance-Dallas.
