Program Results
The
Avance-Dallas impact is clearly
observable in the way it changes the lives of our parents and children during
the program year. By the end of the 2010–2011 program year, our
participants made the following achievements:
– 98% of 3-
and 4-year-old 2011 child graduates were kindergarten-ready—that is, they demonstrated
proficiency on 70% of school readiness skills on
the LAP-3 (Learning Accomplishment Profile).
– 85% of 2011 children age 0–2 were developmentally at or
above their target age on the E-LAP (Early Learning Accomplishment Profile).
– 95% of the 2011 parent participants
evaluated in seven home visits demonstrated at least 75% of the 44 “ideal”
parenting behaviors on the Avance Home Visiting Checklist while playing with their
child. This benchmark was up from a mere 12% of participants at the year’s
beginning.
– 81% of
2011 parent graduates reported reading to their children at least five days per
week by the end of the year, up from only 26% at the program’s start.
– 91% of
2011 parent graduates met the 12%-increase goal on the post-APQ (Avance Parenting Questionnaire) exam. The
average increase was a 28% gain.
– Parents volunteered a
total of 50,114 hours of service in
the community during the 2010–2011 program year, including projects from organizing
a health initiative to
becoming reading tutors in their local
schools.
– 4 students earned
their GED in the 2010–2011 year.
– 100% of
students who completed an ESL class in the 2010–2011 program year improved by
at least one proficiency level on the Side by Side Placement Test.
Long-Term Tracking Results
We
also track the academic achievement of our child graduates in school after they
leave our program. The following charts show the latest findings of how Avance-Dallas child graduates compare
with their peers in the Dallas Independent School District and the state of
Texas.
